Timeline - Home Organisation

 

1964

Reassessment of the practice and thinking of the Social Service Bureau, given the departure of three social workers to interstate and overseas and the appointment of a Chaplain.

 

The Reverend Peter Hollingworth joins the BSL as Chaplain, “responsible for all Youth and Old People’s work at Fitzroy".

 

1967

BSL Executive consists of “the Director, Associate Director, Secretary, Chaplain, Director of Research & Social Action and the Manager of St Laurence Park, Lara". 

 

1981

Father Ross McAuley appointed Chaplain to the BSL.

 

1987-1988

Jeffrey O'Hare was a theological student at the Brotherhood. He acted as interior design consultant for the reconstruction of the BSL Chapel in Fitzroy (Brotherhood Action 1988).

 

1989

Chaplain Father Ross McAuley left the BSL to become vicar of the Anglican parish of St Anselm, Middle Park (December).

 

1991

Father David Moore appointed BSL Chaplain. He took up his role in April, 1992.

 

1997

Chaplain Father David Moore resigned (February)

 

1997

Father Robert Holland appointed BSL Chaplain. 

 

2002

The Reverend Joanne Hall, Father Robert Holland and Father Peter Thomson also provided chaplaincy services.

 

2004

In early 2004 Father Robert Holland took on the role of Chaplain, Parish and Community Development and subsequently the position of 

Manager, Community Enterprise and Development, Brotherhood of St Laurence and Infoxchange Australia.

 

Father Peter Thomson continued as Chaplain.

 

2006

Father Jeff O'Hare appointed October 2006.

 

2008

Rev'd Debra Saffrey-Collins commenced (October 6).

 

2014

Father Jeff O'Hare left BSL February 2014 to become Vicar of Christ Church, Daylesford, and to continue with his work for his interior design company.

 

2016

Rev'd Michelle Trebilcock commenced in June. Reverend Trebilcock has a PhD, 'Towards a Theological Hermeneutic for Contexts of Change: Love in Liminality', from St Mark's National Theological Centre.

 

2019

Rev'd Scott Holmes joins the Brotherhood in August. Reverend Holmes was welcomed into the Brotherhood of St. Laurence Chaplaincy team in a commissioning service led by Bishop Kate Prowd (Also attended by former chaplain Peter Hollingworth).
